Sankofa Word!

Sankofa is a Ghanaian proverb and symbol. It translates: To move forward, we must deal with the past. It is a symbol of healing in order to move forward. Our 4 major departments begin with Sankofa to indicate the healing nature built into the curriculum and instructional design as well as into the teacher preparation and execution.

Communication is critical for success. Our language arts program encompasses both written and spoken word mastery. It seeks to prepare students to write and speak well in a number of venues using a variety of styles designed to get their message through the inherent chatter of modern and personal interference. Similarly, this is an electronic age and we prepare students to use the various and changing mediums to express themselves, to acquire the information and services they need and to persuade others to action.

Our program is an international one, so we encourage the students to seek proficiency in various languages and cultures. Students will achieve mastery which will allow them to exceed state and other national standards.
