Maggie
Maggie Anderson

Maggie has demonstrated the ability to adapt to and thrive in different settings… from a drug-infested ghetto in Miami, to representing the Mayor of a world-class city, to revolutionizing a basement-based startup, and to the CEO’s office of one the largest companies in the world. To accomplish this, she has infused her business and legal experience, her world-class education, and

Knowledge Drinking Gourd

George Fraiser
While George’s accomplishments are significant, his beginnings were very humble. He was born in Brooklyn, NY into a family of 11 children (8 boys and 3 girls). When George’s mom become mentally ill, George’s dad, a cab driver, couldn’t care for 11 children so George was orphaned at 4 and spent 14 years in foster homes. Growing up on the streets of New York he had little hope and no expectations. Although his guidance counselor suggested he drop out of high school, George graduated from high school with a vocational diploma in woodworking because the school system did not consider him college material. Thank God George felt differently…for several years, he mopped floors on the midnight shift at La Guardia Airport, while he paid his way through college, and the rest is history.

Mr. Fraser went on to leadership positions with Procter & Gamble, the United Way, and Ford Motor Company. It was some 20 years ago that God unveiled His real purpose for George. Mr. Fraser went on to author of two critically acclaimed books: Success Runs In Our
Race; The Complete Guide to Effective Networking in the African American Community and Race For Success; The Ten Best Business Opportunities for Blacks In America.

her intelligence, creativity, and drive into all of her endeavors and projects. Maggie’s parents emigrated from Cuba 40 years ago, with the clothes on their backs and carrying her two older brothers. The teachings of these “No welfare, no daycare…We’ll make it work…” parents, the awareness of her diverse ancestry, and the resultant belief in the harmonious capacity of different races, cultures and nationalities enables her to inject an inclusive paradigm to resolving Black people’s problems. Also, her family’s “American Dream” story demonstrates how a proud Black family can defy the statistics, stereotypes, and the stifling situation of their surroundings.

Her professional and personal success represents the intense work ethic, formidable expertise, extreme pride and passion for her community, and the intellectual fortitude she brings to The Empowerment Experiment.

Maggie has a MBA in Economics and Strategy from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business; a JD from the University of Chicago Law School; and a BA in Political Science from Emory University.  Want to know more?

“THE FAMILY PILGRIMAGE II: Building On the SPIRIT of the Million Man March” continued the process of building self-reliance among people of African origin in Palm Beach County, and  took place on the 2nd Anniversary of the great MMM assembly, October 16, 1997 in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Amefika Geuka has resided in West Palm Beach since September, 1994; his family joined him there in January, 1995. Prior to that, they lived in Sanford, Florida -- his wife’s hometown -- since March, 1986. Brother Geuka is “an avowed Black Nationalist and Pan-Africanist,” and has been an activist in the Black Liberation Movement all his adult life, wherever he happened to reside. In the late 1960s he was active in CORE (Congress Of Racial Equality); Co-founded The Marcus And Malcolm Got Us Together (MAMGUT) Family, Int’l. and its practical arm  - the Center for Black Awareness in Utica, New York; and he was co-founder and CEO of the Marcus Garvey Memorial Black Solidarity Committee and its practical arm, the Pan-African Cultural & Resettlement Project in Rochester, New York from 1974 to 1984.

In December, 1998 he secured a charter to operate a public school in Palm Beach County, Florida, and on January 20, 1999 the Joseph Littles-NGUZO SABA Charter School (JL-NSCS) commenced operations. Though his and the school’s critics predicted the demise of the upstart African-centered school within three months of it’s opening, the school continues in operation to this day.

Immediately following his retirement, Brother Amefika and his family traveled to Egypt (Kemet) and Ghana. Upon his return we wrote a book about the experience titled: “Reflections On My Pilgrimage,” described by the publisher as “…the most truthful account of one man’s pilgrimage to Africa.”

Recently Bro. Amefika walked 1000 miles for African-centered education. Learn more here.
